We had to come up with a basic Unit Plan for the class. We were given a unit plan template to fill out and were supposed to look up the standards for Alabama Course of Study. The standards I used were
2.) Describe cell processes necessary for achieving homeostasis, including active and passive transport, osmosis, diffusion, exocytosis, and endocytosis
3.) Identify reactants and products associated with photosynthesis and cellular respiration and the purposes of these two processes.
4.) Describe similarities and differences of cell organelles, using diagrams and tables
however I don't know if I can use all of those in a single unit since it is a LOT to cover in just a matter of two weeks.
We also were to come up with some basic questions that were to be answered in the unit.
My essential questions (questions that will be asked throughout the semester/year) are
1. Why are we here?
2. What is life?
My unit questions are
1. What are cells?
2. What is respiration?
My content questions are
1. What is a ribosome?
2. What is a nucleus?
3. Do animal cells have a cell wall?
I know I have a lot more questions to come up with but I still have to figure out how I'm going to structure this unit since it is very broad.
